THE PERFORMING RIGHTS SOCIETY – PRS

PHONOGRAPHIC PERFORMANCE LTD - PPL

For your information the purpose of these licences:

Performing Rights Society (PRS) and  Phonographic Performance Limited (PPL).  If music is played, e.g. through radio, television, computer speakers or at a live event, it is considered a ‘public performance’.   The Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 states that permission is required from copyright holders to ‘perform’ music in public.  PRS for Music and PPL are two separate independent companies that grant such permission through the issue of licences for the playing of recorded music in public.   Each represents different rights: PRS for Music collects and distributes money for the use of the musical composition and lyrics on behalf of authors, songwriters, composers and publishers, whereas PPL collects and distributes money for the use of recorded music on behalf of record companies and performers. 

I can confirm that The Club holds current licences with PRS and PPL for Caravan Club activities, which will cover all Centre activities.

Both licences are renewed annually, although we are no longer issued with Certificates that we can pass on to you.
